The Challenge
Toowoomba Regional Council required a reliable communications installation partner to support the rollout of its new digital two-way radio system across the region.
The project involved approximately 600 vehicle installations across multiple service centres and depots throughout the Toowoomba region. The fleet included a wide variety of vehicles and machinery, ranging from light vehicles through to heavy equipment such as graders, trucks and front-end loaders.
The Council needed an installation team capable of working efficiently within existing maintenance schedules while maintaining consistent installation standards across all vehicle types and locations. The project also required the ability to deploy quickly across regional locations and complete the rollout within a six-month timeframe.
Comtel’s Solution
Comtel deployed a dedicated team of eight installation technicians across the region to manage the rollout of the digital radio system.
Working closely with Toowoomba Regional Council, the team coordinated installations around council maintenance schedules to minimise operational disruption. Comtel’s technicians completed installations across the entire fleet while adhering to strict quality assurance processes to ensure every installation met the required standards and specifications.

The Result
Comtel successfully supported the rollout of approximately 600 digital radio installations across the Council’s fleet and service locations.
The project established a reliable communications platform for Council operations while ensuring installations were completed efficiently and to a high standard. Following the success of the initial rollout, Comtel continues to provide ongoing installation support as fleet vehicles are renewed and upgraded.
